01 / 10

On 13 December 2014, Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Kaohsiung in Taiwan organized the Buddha’s Light Family with 3 Act of Goodness Ceremony, which took place in the Buddha Hall. There, FGS International Abbot Venerable Hsin Bao presented certificates for 83 families that were nominated. Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island New Zealand (NZ) Vice President–Louisa Kuo’s family and FGS Dharma lecturer-Rona Ku’s family were both awarded where they attended the ceremony with joy.

Louisa has 3 generations of her family, which are members of the BLIA and other than holding the vice president post in BLIA South Island in NZ, she is always committed in helping out temple works as main shrine attendance and activities. Her father Professor Kuo Yen-Chiao, a renowned artist in Taiwan, and his wife Zhuo Yang-Chun are both sincere lay devotees of FGS. All three of Louisa’s children are also members of the BLIA where two of them were former President of the Youth Adult Division (YAD) for BLIA South Island NZ and currently hold important posts in the association.

Rona, wife of the late BLIA South Island NZ Advisor-Dr. James Ku, who has helped founded and promoted in building FGS in South Island NZ, have passed faith and the spiritual heritage of BLIA to their children and grandchildren. The family has since been actively involved with BLIA events such as Dharma lecturing, reading classes, and many more, giving an example as a good role model to everyone in the Buddhist association.

This ceremony not only brought good news to BLIA South Island NZ, but it also spreads a clearer and more specific message of Humanistic Buddhism. They have vowed to continue passing on the spirit and treasure wisdoms of Buddhism to future generations.
