Fo Guang Bodhi Class – Most Supreme Happiness
For the Fo Guang Bodhi Class on 28th February, BLIA Trustee Tina Gao led 6 members to read Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s article “Most Supreme Happiness”. Within contains the gatha “Someone who have both faith and practice are praised by the saints. Someone who enjoys un-conditioned non-attachment will unknot all entanglements.” When a person has faith and have wholesome conducts, saints will joyfully praise them, and they will obtain a peaceful and carefree mind. If one can be free from being entangled by fame, gains, wealth, and power, then that is true happiness.
Faith is wealth, morality, cultivation, guideline, and goal for our life. Hence we should practice faith from the right sect with right beliefs, and not develop blind faith or believe in wrong teachings. Buddhism is a good religion, so we need to uphold precepts after developing faith, conduct according to morality, live daily according to the 8 fold Venerable Path, use the 6 Paramitas and 84000 practices as principals we adhere to, and only commit wholesomely beautiful actions.
Pessimism is the source of failures and optimism can give us the energy to actualise our hopes. All students agreed that no matter what happens, we should always maintain a joyful mood, thus living to the fullest. We should always encourage, cheer and boost ourselves. We should hope to be like lotuses, even though we are living in a world of turbidity, we will not be stained by the mud, but instead bloom beautifully through the muck like a beautiful white bloom. Sculpt a bright life for ourselves to show off Fo guang people’s “Give others confidence, give others hope, give others joy, give others convenience”.
