English Tea Meditation Final Class

01 / 10

The first term of English Tea Meditation in year 2017 from Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island came to an end on 27 May 2017 with 15 students practicing Tai Chi, walking meditation, sitting meditation and tea meditation. After going through the classes, the students now understand more about the way of Ch’an (Zen) getting into meditating practices easier.

At the end of the class, students have asked, how could they further their learnings? Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) member Ding LihSon encouraged them to observe more by participating temple’s weekly evening chant, sutra copying and also Sunday Buddhist Class or else they could join another term of English Tea Meditation in June. A comment from a student, Tim, said that he finds it harder to meditate at home comparing to FGS. Some other students like Victoria and Tania asked if they could practice sitting meditation with music. The answer is to have a relaxed body but a focused mind and having mindfulness, which brings joy rather than to focus what is disturbing and soothing around us is what need to be learned.

Ding have then expressed gratitude to students that came for the Tea Meditation classes and wishes everyone to repeat to the temple more frequently besides just practicing meditation at home. The students also thanked FGS in providing such a meaningful meditation course.
