BLIA South Island’s City Mission Donation

In line with the 2030 United Nations’ agenda of sustainable development goals to ending the poverty, this year Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island continued to launch year end goods donation activity to support the low-income households. On 3rd December, President See Shen Lee, Vice President Elsa Lee and BLIA committee members gathered at Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island to sort out the collected materials, packing and distributing. Through all the efforts, total of 30 boxes of foods and daily necessities, to be donated to Christchurch City Mission. This is the 5th year BLIA South Island organised goods donation activity, with the hope low-income households of Christchurch can spend a warm holiday.

On the afternoon of 6th December, President See Shen Lee, Vice Presidents Elsa Lee and James Low, Director Jason Liu and BLIA members delivers the goods from temple to Christchurch City Mission’s office. City Missioner, Michael Gorman and person-in-charge, Mary Wood represented to accept the goods. They appreciated BLIA members, who continuous for 5 years without failed to assist the resources, so the City Mission could assist more low-income households group.

Michael Gorman once again thanked BLIA members for their support and hope there would be more interaction in the future. Mary Wood also expressed to visit tea house of FGS South Island in near future to taste good coffee. Goods donation activity by BLIA members is also in response to Venerable Master Hsing Yun on the value of 4 gives. At the time of giving, we are giving each other more respect, wisdom of life, in the hope they can have better future.
