Rising Dawn of Success Welcoming New Year
In order to starts the new year with more resolutions. In preparation to have people in Christchurch strengthen the cultivation on the first day of New Year, with new quiet body and mind to welcome the new year, Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple South Island New Zealand organized New Year’s Day Buddhism Examination event “Humanistic Buddhism: Holding True to the Original Intent” on 1st January. BLIA FGS South Island President See Shen Lee, Vice Presidents Ming Yuan Kuo, James Low, Elsa Lee, Dharma Lecturer Rona Ku, disciples and about 50 BLIA members were presented.
Devotees and Members began the morning cultivation and led by Venerable Jue Xi reciting “Eighty-Eight Buddhas Great Repentance Sutra”, reading Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s “A New Year Prayer” followed by sutra transcription, with pure heart approaching the new year day.
To review the 3 month’s study progress on “Humanistic Buddhism: Holding True to the Original Intent”. Buddhism examination were conducted. The examinations were divided into Chinese and English version, with total 8 groups to be taken part. Team members having discussion among each other, sharing, cooperation to complete the exams. Apart of written examination, this year especially having a theory discussion questions to be answered in oral by each team.
Top 3 outstanding group achievers were selected from the 8 groups on the final. Prizes and souvenirs were presented. Venerable expressed that all groups in the theory examination were outstanding performances, saw through everyone was well prepared. The most remarkable was English groups, who seek knowledge with sincere attitude, having clear argument and timing control in right manner.
Venerable convinced that it was not an easy for the everyone to have an excellent result under the limited time. Examination is a way to grow everyone’s wisdom. By everyday reading could correspond to the dharma, the life will become more enrich and fulfill. At the end, Venerable explained the meaning of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s New Year verse “Rising Dawn of Success”, hope everyone in the future of everyday can be hardworking and diligent, become the fighter, preacher of rising dawn of success.
