Inner Wheel Club CHCH Visited FGS South Island
On the morning of 25th November, 12 members from Inner Wheel Club of Christchurch West New Zealand, led by Rosemary, visited Fo Guang Shan South Island Buddhist Temple. The visitors began the visiting by enjoying the coffee’s aromatic and tasty delicacy at the Tea house. Subsequently the visitors were received temple tour by BLIA member Vicky Han and Jack Liu, introducing Venerable Mater Hsing Yun’s One Stroke Calligraphy and visiting “Travelling Exhibition of Xutong Tia’s Ink Painting Exhibition”.
Inner Wheel is one of the world’s largest women’s voluntary of non-government organisations, found in nearly 103 countries, with 4000 clubs, while North and South Island New Zealand have more than 60 clubs. The organisation helps the communities from local, national and all around the world, promoting all ages of women in culture, different ethnic and building a bridges between countries for the public to create happier futures and better life.
Event organiser Rosemary said that she felt touched with the warm reception from BLIA members and attract by the coffee’s aromatic from tea house after came to the temple with the walking group on last month. She felt the temple is a place fill with love and warmth. Therefore, she specially organised the members from Inner Wheel Club, West coast chapter to come visit the temple. This also a first visit for most of the club members.
The members said even though the outside is raining with little chilly, but have opportunity to enjoy the Zen painting on the Courtyard’s wall in the transformation of rain. The detailed layout of every place in the temple and the art gallery exhibited Zen painting made them felt the great art atmosphere sending through physically and mentally. Everyone stopped few times on the corridor reading the Venerable Master Hsing yun’s life journey. They felt Master’s compassion and wisdom through the words from calligraphy on the wall. The members then proceeded to the Buddha shrine to offer light offering and the temple presented origami lotus flower to the members. The members were very happy and said will share with people about the experience from this visit and will bring family and friends to come.
