Air New Zealand Staff Experiences Chinese Culture at Fo Guang Shan
On 28th September senior members of Air New Zealand came to Fo Guang Shan to better understand Chinese culture. They were led on a temple tour by Venerable Miaoyu, and then taught Chinese calligraphy by Master Ling Daoxuan and traditional Chinese opera face painting by Chinese teacher Ling Ziying and Professor Zhou Linghan. These culturally enriching classes made everyone very happy. Despite it’s their first time transcribing Chinese calligraphy, everyone still carefully and attentively made every stroke. Everyone’s sincere and curiosity filled attitude has grasp the deep impressions of Chinese scripts.
Fo Guang Shan’s 4 mottos are: “To propagate Buddhist teachings through cultural activities, To foster talent through education, To benefit society through charitable programs, To purify human hearts and minds through Buddhist practice” Humanistic Buddhism’s culture and art are expressed through the Shrines and the current “The Great Element” exhibition at the art gallery.
The visit Air NZ staff deeply experienced the quintessence of the enriching and tranquil traditional Chinese culture. They also experienced Humanistic Buddhism’s diverse, joyful and purifying effects.
They also enjoyed the delicious food at the Tea House and hopes to visit again soon with their family and friends. They were also gifted books of “Human world” by the temple.
