New Zealand Police Holds High Command Strategy Meeting at Fo Guang Shan

01 / 04

New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush decided to move his team from Wellington to hold the High Command Strategy Meeting at Fo Guang Shan North Island instead. In attendance included Deputy Commissioner of Resource Management Glenn Dunbier, National Deputy Commissioner Michael Clement and Deputy Commissioner Grant Nicholls. Minister in Charge Venerable Juehao and the youth group were there to welcome the group.

The temple was chosen as the ideal venue for its soothing and comforting atmosphere, allowing everyone to de-stress and hold positive attitudes. The meeting was held inside the bell tower, with tea and lunch in between. The day’s agendas centred on the direction of future police strategy.

The Commissioner was grateful for the temple’s wonderful atmosphere and the care provided by BLIA volunteers as well as the delicious food. This all contributed to right decision making to the team.

Venerable Abbess expressed that everything within the temple can teach us the Dharma without sound, which is one way Venerable Master Hsing Yun wished to propagate Humanistic Buddhism. The police have certainly deeply experienced this aspect. This is the third year the police have held such an important meeting at the temple. For the sake of keeping our society safe the temple will do it’s best to support the police.
