336 Days Worth of Wisdom from Venerable Master Hsing Yun Shared with the Elders
On 26th August, Minister in Charge Venerable Juehao and Venerable Rulian led 10 BLIA Members to visit elders at Erin Park Retirement Village, bringing gifts of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s books “366 Days Wisdom”. It is Venerable Master’s sentiment “reading about how to be a good person, reading to be clear of some principals, reading to be clear of some conditions and reading to understand one mind” that encouraged more people benefit from reading. The visitors were welcomed by manager Shirley Jessop and Village residents.
Venerable Juehao personally present the book gits to the residents, whom all praised the wisdom of the tomes. Shirley Jessop thanked the Temple for presenting these gifts of wisdom to everyone, for these sectarian transcending wisdoms will surely be useful for everyone. In return Venerable Juehao thanked the Retirement village for their warm hospitality and hopes everyone can connect with the Venerable Master’s Dharma words every day. She also hopes Fo Guang Shan will be able to do more for the country’s education and culture. The temple is a recharge station welcoming people of all walks of life so they can all experience the tranquillity and harmony within.
The average age of the retirees is 85 years old. They all met the guests wearing elegant outfits and conversed with eloquence and humour. A elder of 94 years old interacted with everyone through wits and elders Doris and Jane led the visitors through the premises. They proudly showed everyone that life here is very carefree where they can take good care of each other. If they cannot eat all the personally planted vegetables at the village they will also share them with others. The process of garden not only strengthens the body but also keep Alzheimer’s away.
