“Earth Day” at the Temple

01 / 14

In order to support Earth Day and actualise Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s ideals of taking care of earth, an environmental clean-up day was held at the temple on 6th April during the Easter break. It was joined by 60 BLIA members both young and mature, where they cleaned and weeded the bell and drum towers, the garden, kitchen and corridors. Afterwards they recited the “Heart Sutra” and Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s “Prayers and Wishes for nature”. Through their action, speech and thoughts, the comfortable and peaceful temple has been beautified.

Venerable Abbess Manshin expressed the garden was only made possible due to every volunteer’s hard work. She encouraged everyone to put real action into protecting earth by: “cherish fortune, cherish conditions, cherish materials and cherish relationships”. Protect earth by respecting the environment through the ideals of co-existence mutually. This will surely leave a beautiful future for our descents.
