BLIA Vice-President Gave Presentation to Auckland Rotary Club
On 30th June, BLIA Vice-President Linda Daniell was invited by the Auckland Rotary Club to give a short presentation about Fo Guang Shan at Stanford Hotel. The presentation was attended by an audience of over 60 people.
Linda began the presentation by using the simile of peace tranquility expressed by a cup of tea from the tea house to lead to the path of practicing Buddhism to discover ultimate truth. She then talked about Fo Guang Shan’s founder Venerable Master Hsing Yun and how the organisation has developed over 300 branches throughout the world, how Humanistic Buddhism was propagated and the meaning of 3 Good Deeds and 4 Kinds of Giving and their benefit to society. This was followed by explanation of Buddhism’s propagation in New Zealand by working with the local government and police, by providing educational seminars to the public and the example of the recent Festival of Cultural Sharing where over 1500 students from locals came to learn about the wholesome ideals of 3G and 4G.
Audiences from the Rotary were very happy to learn about the temple’s contributions and positive influence on society and expressed wishes to visit soon.
