Childern from Kiwicare Preschool Visits Fo Guang Shan – Experiencing Stillness and Purity of the Mind
On the 28th and 29th of January, 20 children from Mangere East Kiwicare Preschool visited Fo Guang Shan under the guidance of their teacher, in order to experience Buddhism and traditional Chinese culture. The group was received and led on a tour by Venerable Rulian.
In their first visit, the children were filled with curiosity and fondness toward the temple’s architecture. They all made wishes in front of the wishing bell, even though these young minds cannot yet comprehend the profound meanings within, they all expressed great joy over the occasion. Inside the Main Shrine, under the guidance of their teacher and devotees, all the children respectfully joined their palms and bowed to the Buddha.
Their teacher expressed that Fo Guang Shan gave all locals the chance to experience the profound values of Buddhism and traditional Chinese culture without having to go abroad. This is especially valuable for children to experience the stillness, purity and carefreeness of the mind.
