Children from Thai Temple Summer Camp Visits Fo Guang Shan – Temple Experiences from a Different Culture
As a part of meditation studies for the local WAT YARNPRATEEP Thai Temple’s children summer camp, 3 Venerables and 17 children and devotees visited Fo Guang Shan on 22nd January. They were welcome by Venerable Miaoyu and were lead to pay respect and offer incenses to the Buddha. Then the group was toured through the Front Shrine, Main Shrine and courtyard.
The visitors expressed that they had a feeling of being reunited with nature, purity of mind and returning to reality, from the temple’s solemn atmosphere. The group then split up in order to explorer every corner of the temple. Some were reading Dharma words along the cultural corridor, admiring cherry blossoms along the walk way and taking photos with the little monk statues, all faces were filled with joyful smiles. Everyone thoroughly experienced the great profoundness of Buddhism.
Back inside the Main Shrine, Thai Venerables lead the children to chant sutras, make prayers and conducted meditation practices.
