CEO of Outward Bound Visits the Temple
On 23rd June CEO of Outward Bound Victor Klaproth visited the temple, and was received by Venerable Abbess Manshin, Venerable Rulian, BLIA North Island Head Advisor Dolly Tsai and members of YAD. Outward Bound is a not for profit organisation for encouraging youth to experience outdoor challenges in order uncover their potentials and teach them independence.
Victor Klaproth made this special trip because he was impressed by the diverse culture of Humanistic Buddhism after witnessing the proceedings of this year’s “10th Anniversary Buddha’s Birthday Celebration”. He felted that the temple’s atmosphere and events brings peace and comfort to the people.
YAD member Vicky shared that the temple especially takes care of young people by teaching them how to deal with daily challenges, get along with others, develop good attitude and give them the opportunity to mature by providing service to others, thereby taking ownership of their lives. The Abbess expressed youths at the temple works hard by making the maximum use of every moment; this is according to Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s teaching of “Living to 300 years old by doing 3 days’ worth of things in one day.” This is the way to learn lesson of life by taking responsibilities.
Victor thanked everyone at the temple for their hospitality. He is also impressed by the temple’s support for young people and the beneficial philosophy expounded by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, and expressed he wishes to work with the temple in the future. The Abbess gave him a gift of the book “366 With Wisdom” by Venerable Master Hsing Yun.
