Young Buddhist Wedding at the Temple – Happy Life Cleansed by the Dharma
BLIA Working YAD Members Mr Wang Yu and Ms Qu Yi Xuan officially celebrated their matrimony with a Buddhist style wedding at Fo Guang Shan North Island on 18th March. The ceremony was carried out by Witnessing Master Venerable Abbess Manshin, Venerables, and 80 friends, families and fellow BLIA members in the audience. The Abbess led the audiences to bid well wishes to the newly wed and handed gifts from the temple.
The young couple are both long term volunteers of the temple. Their main roles are Dharma Attendants, although they always enthusiastically support all temples’ activities.
The Abbess encouraged the young couple to be a true Buddhist by applying the Dharma to their daily lives. She also shared with them some of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s advice for married couples, with the first few advice for the husband:
1. Keep less money on his person
2. Go home to have dinner
3. Going to engagement together
4. Speak words of humour and care
Advice for the wife include:
1. Make the family like a play ground
2. Cook tasty meals
3. Be hardworking, thrifty and possess the 5 virtuous of a wife
4. Praise your husband and keep no secrets from him
Finally the Abbess wished the newly wed to often return to the temple, strengthen their faith through this union, live a fulfilling life and become a role model family for other young couples.
After the ceremony the newly wed and their family prepared sumptuous vegetarian meals to treat everyone at the wedding congregation, in order to thank the temple for meticulously preparing this ceremony. Mr and Mrs Wang expressed their happiness at becoming a Buddhist family under Fo Guang Shan and thanked the Venerables for their long term care for them.
