01 / 06

The September Construction Meeting of Accommodation Block at 8 Harakeke Street, was held in Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Temple South Island on 28th September 2016. FGS New Zealand Venerable Abbess Manshin, South Island Temple Supervisor Venerable Jue Xi, BLIA North Island Vice President Sally Wong, BLIA South Island Committee Director Benny Wong and Jason Liu attended the meeting.

Project Manager Daniel and Contractor’s Manager Phil briefed the meeting on the progress of work and reported that roof construction was completed on 16th September as per schedule, and frames for first floor have also been substantially completed. The meeting discussed the changes for first floor layout with due consideration for functionality. Included in the discussions were the positioning of the windows, the design of the garage, and the layout planning for the garden and car park. The meeting was informed that civil engineering details, electrical details, heating and WIFI systems would be finalised within the next week. Mr Daniel also informed that all the windows would be installed by next week as per schedule. The interior of the building would be built to meet its practical needs of maximising space usage and providing convenience to the occupants.

In the meeting, Abbess stressed that the Accommodation Block is built for the convenience of the outstation members of BLIA and devotees of FGS and its interior design should therefore cater to the long term future needs of ten to twenty years. Abbess praised the construction Team for their thoughtfulness and dedication and hoped the project could be completed as planned to provide a ‘Chan’-filled environment for its intended activities.
