CEO of Human Rights Commission Visited Fo Guang Shan North Island Feel the Dharma of Environment
Cynthia Brophy - Chief Executive of the Human Rights Commission and Rakesh Naidoo-Strategic Advisor Race Relations visited the Fo Guang Shan North Island temple on Tuesday 11 October. Venerable Miaoyu, Venerable Youcheng, Director of BLIA North Island Annie Ng and our Young youths welcomed them.
This is Miss Brophy’s first visit to Fo Guang Shan North Island, She observed how tranquil and serene the temple was and the attention that had been placed in developing such a beautiful garden and surroundings, she especially amazed by the strong Mondo grass of the garden. Throughout the visit, Miss Brophy finds the concept of spreading education, culture exchange and pass on. The purpose of the visit was to learn more about the temple and also look at holding a strategic planning day for the Human Rights Commission there in early 2017.
The Medicine Buddha Dharma Function is about to start in the temple, so Venerable Miaoyu chant the medicine mantra for them when they Visited main shrine. Miss Brophy said, her friend is fighting with cancer, she is willing to transfer the merits to her friend and wish her friend can recover soon.
In addition, Miss Brophy also visited our art gallery and she understood what is Master's One Stroke Calligraphy, she feel astonished by our Master's wisdom and willpower.
She was grateful for the warm hospitality and the friendliness of the Venerables and Sanga. She enjoyed the delicious lunch and promised to bring her colleagues to visit and to seriously look at the option of having the planning meeting at the temple.
