CEO of Human Rights Commission visits the Temple
On 11th October, Cynthia Brophy, CEO of the Human Rights Commission of New Zealand visited the temple under the accompaniment of Mr Rakesh, Strategic Advisor of Race Relations. They were received by Venerable Miaoyu, BLIA Director Annie Ng and members of YAD.
This is Ms Brophy’s first visit to the temple, to which she was impressed by the venue’s tranquil atmosphere and especially fascinated by the compressible Mondo Grass. She also learned about how the types of education and culture that were propagated by the temple. Then she made the plan to hold the next strategy meeting at the temple on 2017.
Then the visitors were ushered into the Main Shrine to offer lights under the settings of the upcoming Medicine Buddha Dharma Function. Then Venerable Miaoyu led them to chant the “Medicine Buddha Mantra” to bestow blessings to everyone present. Ms Brophy expressed that her light offering is made on behalf of her friend who is suffering is from cancer, she wishes her to recover soon.
This was followed by a visit to “Venerable Master Hsing Yun One Stroke Calligraphy exhibition”. To the pieces and the concepts behind the calligraphy, Ms Brophy praised by exclaiming “marvellous!” therefore showing her admiration to the Venerable Master’s diligence and wisdom.
Finally the guests treated to delicious food at the tea house.
