FGS Club recruits new members during Orientation Week of University of Auckland
An exhibition of different clubs was held at the University of Auckland from 19th July to 21st July 2016. University of Auckland Fo Guang Shan Club also participated this three days event, recruiting many new members for FGS NZ Young Adult Division for the new semester.
This orientation event was located in the University gym stadium, where many People were crowded. In total there were around seventy stalls from different clubs, with Fo Guang Shan Club being in the 4th row from the entrance. Nice humanistic musical pieces accompanied by Taiwanese Gaoshan tea and Dim Sum were prepared by Fo Guang Shan Club to welcome new members.
The orientation lasted for three days. Forty new members were recruited; with most being non-Chinese speakers. They were interested in knowing more about Buddhism, how to meditate, how to practice and what activities will be held by the Club.
University of Auckland Fo Guang Shan Club was established in 2014. The club organized youth members to join activities in the North Island Temple regularly. It also provided Ch'an Meditation, Buddhism Classes and volunteering services. Hence, lots of the youths could receive the Perfect enlightened teachings of of the Buddha.
