Balamohan Shingade; Curator of Uxbridge Art Centre visited the temple on 14th June. He was received by Venerable Rulian, Venerable Youcheng, and BLIA North Island Annie Ng. Together they discussed about methods of promotion and presentation for the upcoming “10th Estuary Art Award” exhibition at the temple.
“Estuary Art Award” is an exhibition organised by Uxbridge. This exhibition aims to raise public awareness on environmental protection of the local estuary by encouraging artists to present this message from different artistic perspectives. This year is the 6th year the temple and Uxbridge have cooperated for this exhibition.
Balamohan Shingade thanked Venerable Abbess Mashin (She is the Curator for Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery New Zealand) for her ongoing support this for exhibition, as well as making this a platform for local artists to shine. He hopes to continue this amicable relationship with the temple and hopes that there can be further cooperation for the upcoming Auckland Cultural Festival. The Curator also hopes that this avenue can promote more exchange between the local culture and Humanistic Buddhism, thereby further promote the wholesome beauty of Buddhism’s wisdom.
Venerable Rulian reaffirmed that Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery is indeed a window for art, faith and culture exchange. She also hoped that it will allow local artists to show case their best, and together we can use art to propagate the truth of Buddhism.
