01 / 10

2016 City2Surf fun Run event organised by The Star of Christchurch NZ and Sports Canterbury on the 20th of March attracted nearly ten thousand people to participate in. Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island NZ Vice Presidents Elsa Lee and James Low, Committee Members Benny Wong and Jason Liu, BLIA Young Adult Division (YAD) South Island NZ representative Fan-Ping Chiang participated the run.

Categories of a 14 kilometers run and a 6 kilometers run were options for this year’s City2Surf where the longer route starts at Pioneer Stadium’s Centennial Park and the shorter route starts at Hansen Park in the Opawa suburb. Donations and money raised while doing the City2Surf this year are all for the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust to support emergency operations and enhance health quality of the public.

BLIA members used around 2 1/2 hours to finish 14 kilometers. A consecutive participant, vice president Elsa expressed that this is a wonderful event and hopes to join again next year. This activity is a power booster to the BLIA members getting ready for the upcoming staged musical, “Siddhartha the Musical” that gives them relaxing time, positive energy with reserved stamina in preparing and giving the best musical performance to the people of Christchurch.
