It’s the beginning of the year and to keep in touch with Christchurch society, the Labour Party of Christchurch NZ held a “Back to Work” meeting on 12th February with the attendance of Leader of the NZ Labour Party – Andrew Little, Member for Port Hills Labour Party – Hon. Ruth Dyson, Labour Party Member of Parliament for the Wigram electorate – Dr Megan Wood, Member of Parliament for the NZ Labour Party – Poto Williams MP, Mayor of Christchurch – Hon. Lianne Dalziel and more than a hundred joined. Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island NZ President – SeeShen Lee, Vice President – Louisa Kuo and James Low with Director’s member Jason Liu were also there to represent.

The host, Hon. Ruth Dyson started the event by thanking the crowd and expressed that this activity is organiszed to listen to the voices of the public, tightening the distance between the people and the congress, and to seek a reasonable solution in a form of discussion through this platform. Party Leader Andrew Little then said he is honoured to visit Christchurch and witness the exciting process of reconstruction. He looks forward to the new look of Christchurch with more reconstructions to be completed. He added, as a member of the congress, it is a duty to serve the people more and this would definitely live up to the expectations of voters. Even there are different groups in the event, all of it holds the same idea, which is to unify and to continue the spirit of building and beautifying the wonderful land of NZ.

BLIA members denotes that Andrew’s thinking is similar to Fo Guang Shan (FGS) founder – Venerable Master Hsing Yun, whom showed, “Living for yourself is selfish, Living for your family is a great weight, But living for the public is wondrous, And living for the community is the most practical way”. As members of BLIA which practices Humanistic Buddhism, to contribute is always the practical way. In conjunction of this joyful get-together, President Lee has also invited parliament members and the crowd to attend “Siddhartha the Musical” which will take place on May 10th, in celebrating the reconstructing of FGS South Island NZ and the success of Christchurch reconstruction these 5 years.
