Attending the Birds Eye View Seminar
The Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island NZ President See Shen Lee, Vice President James Low, Young Adult Division (YAD) members Tiffany Su and Harry Wang with 50 members of various societies in Christchurch arrived at the Bayleys Auction Rooms on the 4th of August, attending a meeting called by the Christchurch Central MP who is also the Minister of Customs – Hon Nicky Wagner. The meeting, named the Bird’s Eye View which was personally presided by Hon Nicky Wagner is for the society to regularly hold many types of different presentations of welfare and knowledge moreover, to invite the outstanding women of Christchurch in performances and contributions to share their perspectives.
On this day, Vanessa Carswell, Alice Ridley and Kaitlyn White were the respective guest speakers. Vanessa, currently an important designer for the Warren and Mahoney Architects was engaged with the refurbishment of the Christchurch Isaac Royal Theatre that was repaired and opened a few weeks ago staging the infamous play, “Madame Butterfly”. Meanwhile, Alice and Kaitlyn are the President and Vice President from the Christchurch Youth Council, now actively leading volunteers to accomplish activities beneficial towards physical and mental development of youths.
Members of the BLIA have had a better understanding listening to their presentations; Vanessa has great experiences with unique knowledge and understanding to relevant professional teams, making her a good help in completing tasks of restoring monuments and art appreciations. President Lee from the BLIA invited her to have a visit to Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery II in sharing experiences and cooperating in the future.
Both 19 years old Alice and Kaitlyn were carefully managing youths for the past 3 years, molding themselves as passionate youth leaders. They were then invited by the BLIA members to interact with BLIA’s YAD to exchange ideas and know each other more. Additionally, BLIA members would also invite them to try out Buddhist classes and meditation classes in the temple. Alice and Kaitlyn were happy with the invitation and yearning for meditation classes.
MP Hon Nicky Wagner specially thanked the BLIA members for attending the meeting and BLIA members expressed gratitude to have been to the Birds Eye View meetings which is a meaningful event, giving everyone a good platform for knowledge and information.
