Srimala College’s Students Visits FGS South Island
The 29th Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Srimala College student batch, led by Venerable Miao Jou and accompanied by Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) North Island President Dolly Tsai, arrived in Christchurch on the 6th of November for a scholarly visit. They were warmly greeted by FGS New Zealand Venerable Abbess Manshin; Temple Supervisor Venerable Jue Xi from South Island; Ms See Shen Lee, president of BLIA South Island; and also several other BLIA members.
They gave a guided tour for the visiting students to FGS South Island's temple which is currently under maintenance, pointing out too the temple's spiritual cultivating for the wider Christchurch community. Although the temple is temporarily closed at the moment, FGS South Island is still able to continue its services at Cloud Water House, allowing humanistic Buddhism to continue its propagation.
Afterwards, the students were invited to Cloud Water House for dinner, and with everyone's eagerness to help out, all of the meal preparatory and subsequent cleaning up work was finished in no time. The students were split into small groups later on to promote some discussion on their experiences from this long distance visit – under the peaceful environment of the Southern Hemisphere, what a truly inspirational visit it must have been.
