14 Year Old NZ BLIA Youth Returns to the Headquarter to Experience Serving Others
14 Year old NZ BLIA youth Sin Jun went to Fo Guang Shan Head quarter in Taiwan as a part of the “International BLIA Youth Conference”. This is his first time travelling overseas. Upon arrival he was guided by Kitchen Head Venerable Huichuang to undertake kitchen duties including washing, picking and chopping vegetables and serving during meals. Even many days of endurance and tests, the duties have become proficient for him and the kitchen and his fellow attendants has become family.
Sin Jun expressed that his confidence, self-sufficiency and daily wisdom has improved greatly from serving over a thousand people during meals and by learning Venerables and fellow attendants. His Mandarin skills have also improved. Before servicing for each meal, the leading Venerable would often remind everyone that: “As soon as you see a bowl has been pushed forward, go check it straight away. Serve in a relaxed manner that’s fast and none disturbing.” Sin Jun feels that he is keen to put these newly learnt skills to use back in NZ by providing services to meals. Not to mention sharing these precious experiences with everyone.
There were also 3 others NZ BLIA youths that joined Sin Jun for this trip.
