Settlers Wednesday Wanderers Visits FGS Auckland
On 30th March 2022, there were 13 seniors from the Settlers Wednesday Wanderers group visited FGS Auckland. The group were led by Joan Baker and received a warm welcome by Venerable Miaoyu and BLIA North Island Deputy President Nick Yoong.
Nick led the elders for a Temple Tour. Along the tour, they delighted in the fragrance of the blooming Osmanthus Tree that filled the air. Furthermore, the senior group was fortunate to be the first group to visit the newly decorated Prince Siddhartha Exhibition which was set up for Buddha’s Birthday Celebration. They were attracted by the colourful wishing cards, LED lights and the joyful atmosphere. In the exhibition hall, their hearts were filled with inspiration as they read the wise words of the Venerable Master. Additionally, the group also visited the One Stroke Calligraphy Exhibition, where they were amazed by the story and the calligraphy by Venerable Master Hsing Yun.
The person in charge, Joan, said that initially she was unsure if the Temple would be open for group visits due to the epidemic. To her surprise, she received a prompt confirmation for the tour. Joan appreciated the warm hospitality, during the one-hour visit, she understood Buddhism is always people-oriented and filled with humanity. They truly enjoyed the unique architecture as well as the beautiful courtyard. Lastly, Venerable Miaoyu present the bookmark of Venerable Master to the elders, hoping that everyone is filled with wisdom and blessings.
