Opening Exhibition for Halswell Pottery Group
Twelve artists participating in the Halswell pottery exhibition whose artwork are currently on display at the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch came to the opening ceremony on 12th October, with about 30 people attending.
The Halswell Pottery Group is a very active art group in Christchurch. Two members of the group, Gaye Morton and Marie Rusbatch-Dawson showcased their display at the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch back in 2012, with wide acclaim. The art gallery enjoys a good reputation in Christchurch, and 14 artists from the group were chosen to present their work as a joint exhibition this time around.
The artists participating in the exhibition have many years of experience in making pottery, and their works are of a very high standard. Examples of the works on display include vases, urns, bowls, plates, cups, teapots, lampshades, ornaments, etc. Some ceramic designs are extravagant, others bold and innovative, with each one being one of a kind. The public were amazed at the exquisite works of art being showcased.
The gathering that day was very much a success, with the artists and public members communicating and exchanging artistic ideas with one another. The exhibition will run from 8th October to 10th November, and we hope that there will be something there for ceramic artists and public members to enjoy.
