NZ Police Asian Advisory Board Meeting Held at Fo Guang Shan Temple

On 6th December, NZ Police held their “Asian Advisory Board meeting” regarding the Manukau region at Fo Guang Shan. This is the last session of such meetings held, which was attended by VIPs such as Superintendent John Tim, Manukau Police District Community Engagement Manager Warwick Morehu, Manukau Asian Liaison Officer Justin Zeng, various district commanders, strategic analysts, and representatives of local community, to a total of 21 in attendance. Participation from Fo Guang Shan included Venerable Zhiming and BLIA members Angie, Sally and Tina.

Before commencing the meeting, Venerable Rulian and Venerable Zhiming chanted a Buddhist sutra to offer blessing. Officer Warick Morehu also offered blessings in Maori. Superintendent John Tim thanked the temple for providing the venue and expressed that every visit to Fo Guang Shan brought about feelings of carefree peace. Superintendent Tim also reported that crime rate in Manukau have decreasing daily, hence there is hope that everyone can march toward the goal of a safe society with continued diligence.

This meeting reviewed topics originally discussed in 5th September regarding burglary, organised crime, domestic violence and crime prevention strategies proposed for the Christmas period. From understanding the current public peace situations, and all departments adequately performing their respective functions; correct information regarding crime prevention will be transmitted to the public.
