New Zealand Fo Guang Bodhi Study Group -Immovable Capital for our future lives
On 7th February, Fo Guang Bodhi Study Group invited the Malaysian motivational speaker Uncle Bang to give its 6 members a lesson. Uncle Bang used a short film called “Immovable Capital for our future lives” to explain the day’s teachings.
The film portrayed a person that has pass on, who arrived at location that sells “Immovable capital for our future lives”. This place operates according to all his thoughts and actions committed during this life time, which adds points for good thoughts and deeds and deducts points for bad thoughts and deeds. The final score after completion of all additions and subtractions can be used to purchase the location of his next rebirth. These calculated points included all of his good and bad deeds, whether they are known by others, unknown by others, and committed unknowingly. No matter how big or minute are the deeds, they were calculated with extreme accuracy.
After viewing the film, all students eagerly expressed their insights. They realised that the human form is hard to come by, yet they’ve all obtained it during this life time, hence must cherish all opportunities to commit good deeds. The motto of “Refrain from all that is unwholesome, and commit all that is wholesome” must be actualised in practice. Uncle Bang encouraged everyone to diligent use all the time that are left carry out good deeds, thus putting into practice Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s “Three good and Four giving”. Thus accumulate the score for our “Immovable capital for future lives”.
After class, the students brought fruits, “Great Compassionate Mantra water” and hearts of love donated by the temple to visit a fellow pupil who cannot attend the class due to illness. They wished her to get well soon to once again join the team, thus continue to be a part of this warm and harmonious big family.
