Car wash to raise funds for Australia New Zealand Buddhist Youth Conference (ANZBYC) 2013 – 18th Nov 2012

The car wash by BLIA Young Adult Division (YAD) to raise funds for ANZBYC 2013 resumed after a month as members were busy with their exams.

Under the leadership of YAD One President Tina and YAD Two President Ann Jo, 4 members began another round of car washes at Fo Guang Shan North Island's car park, charging a reasonable $20 per vehicle. Their excellent and detailed services brought back many regular customers.

Other than learning how to wash cars efficiently, the youth have acquired other skills such as time management, leadership, tolerance and cooperation within a team environment.

This fundraising car wash will continue to be held every Sunday fortnight weather permitting. Visitors and devotees are encouraged to send their cars for washing as proceeds from this event will go towards hosting the 2013 Australia New Zealand Buddhist Youth Conference at Fo Guang Shan North Island.

This fundraising activity echoes a quote by Founder of Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order Venerable Master Hsing Yun that says 'Because I am poor, therefore it allows me to create something out of nothing.'
