Start of English Tea Meditation Class

01 / 10

The first English tea meditation class in year 2017 organized by Fo Guang Shan (FGS) started on 6 May at the Buddha Hall. Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) member Ding LihSon and Low KokWei led 12 students into a 4 weeks’ course which includes Tai Chi, walking meditation, sitting meditation and tea meditation.

The class started with Tai Chi to soften the body, followed with walking meditation to warm up the body. In sitting meditation, focusing the breath was emphasized and the students must be aware that meditating is not falling asleep and meditating could bring one into a peaceful stage. In the end, tea meditation by BLIA practitioners led everyone into enjoying tea.

In the sharing session, a student asked on how to regulate breathing while doing sitting meditation, and another student appreciated with gratitude being given a chance to be in this class experiencing a peaceful hour.

One of the students shared this experience to the parents while arriving home and this have given interest for the parents to visit FGS and join the meditation class in the following week. Good feedbacks were given on this first class and BLIA hope that these will bring more understanding of meditation in classes to come.
