01 / 10

20 members from the University of the Third Age (U3A) in Rolleston came visiting Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island New Zealand with the lead of Roger and Mary Durdoch on 14 February. Welcomed by Vicky from the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery II, she gave a temple tour to the visitors and guided them into offering light to the Buddha, following the visit to the “Humanity and Love – Touring Exhibition of Li Zijian Oil Paintings” which is exhibiting in the art gallery currently.

Most of the U3A members are first time visitors to FGS South Island and they are amazed by the appearance of the temple and the stone carvings of the Four Bodhisattvas in front of the building. They are also moved by the carefully arranged artistic interior of the temple that is filled with love. In introducing the artwork of Li Zijian’s “Humanity and Love” exhibition, Vicky told the history in between the artist and FGS founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun and how lively the art is, attracting the hearts of viewers.

Roger and Mary both complimented that “Your service is 10 out of 10” to the members of FGS and also the staffs from Water Drop Vegetarian Café. This certainly brought them a beautiful day.
On the same day, 13 senior members from the Lincoln Walking Group visited the Art Gallery guided by Buddha’s Light International South Island President, Seeshen Lee in viewing the oil paintings. The group expressed their likings of the artwork “Mill”, “Pulling Out a Thorn”, “Sister’s Story” and a lot more. The details and the spirit of humanism brought out the feeling giving these visitors a warmth feeling.
