First Meeting of the 8 Harakeke Construction

The month of May marks an important date for Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island New Zealand (NZ) as they are building up their new accommodation block and currently the ground laying of the area has been completed. With everyone putting every minute into use, everything is going according to plan. A meeting was held on the 22nd of June regarding the constructing of the hall and it was attended by FGS NZ Abbess – Venerable Abbess Manshin, FGS South Island NZ Temple Supervisor – Venerable Jue Xi, Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) North Island Vice President – Sally, BLIA South Island Committee – Benny and Jason Liu together with Daniel, the team lead on the engineering side, explaining the progress of the project with his team.

In the meeting, Daniel explained progress on:-
1) Installations of water pipes
2) The level of the ground
3) Replacing old fences with new ones
4) Confirming the latest design of the building and the garden design surrounding it.

The abbess expressed that simplicity should be the main concept of the building and the garden should give a comfortable feeling of Chan’ in the hearts of whoever visiting it. Daniel and the members of FGS and BLIA has set a date to meet again on the 22nd of the following month.

In addition, with the ushering of the abbess, the team were also led to inspect work progress of the project. The abbess is satisfied with the project of the FGS South Island new accommodation block and hopes that the future of the building construction could continue to be on schedule and complete on time.
