Graduation ceremony of Children Dharma Class at FGS Auckland
On 24th April 2022, the graduation ceremony of the 1st semester of the Children Dharma Class was held at Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple Auckland. During the ceremony, Abbess Manshin presented the statues of the Prince Siddhartha to the 13 students who had taken Refuge in Triple Gem and become students of the Buddha on 2nd April. Minister in Charge of FGS Auckland Venerable Rulian, Venerables, teachers and parents of the Children Dharma Class witnessed this touching moment together.
The students joined their palms and respectfully received the Prince statue from Abbess, holding it firmly in their palms, with happy smiles on their faces. Abbess encouraged everyone to greet the Prince every morning and evening. This sacred statue of the Prince Siddhartha is to place at home to remind everyone that we are a student of the Buddha, hence we must pass on the faith, develop our own wisdom, and contribute to the society. Lastly, Abbess blessed every student to have a bright life.
During the class, teacher Thomas led the students to have fun games and morning tea. Venerable Nengchang gifted Venerable Master’s bookmarks and Three Goodness & Four Givings puzzles to the students. Carter Tsui, one of the students who won the Excellence Award, happily shared that he had learned gratitude, Three Goodness & Four Givings, and honesty in the Dharma class. He also thanked the Temple and Venerables for giving students the opportunity to learn Dharma and establish correct attitudes. The students finished this semester with a full harvest and look forward to meeting again in the Temple next semester.
