Visit of members of the Loyal Riccarton Lodge, Manchester to FGS Christchurch
Led by its group leader Lynne Winsloe, 18 members of the Loyal Riccarton Lodge, Manchester, in Christchurch, visited Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Christchurch on 16 June 2022. They were received by Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island Director Kok Wei Low.
Director Kok Wei first introduced the external architectural appearance of the Temple to the visitors. After that, Venerable Neng Qian led the visitors for a tour of the Songs For Remembrance Exhibition, the Time corridor and the Buddha Hall. She also introduced to the visitors Venerable Master Hsing Yun and the concept of Humanistic Buddhism. The visitors were deeply moved by the Master Hsing Yun's perseverance in writing the one-stroke calligraphy and by the concept of Giving in Humanistic Buddhism. Afterwards, they happily carried out copying scriptures in the Buddha Hall. After the tour, the visitors adjourned to the Water Drop Cafe to enjoy their afternoon tea.
Loyal Riccarton Lodge, Manchester, is a seniors group that regularly visits different location each month to have their meeting there. Lynne said, over the past year during the pandemic, their appointments to visit many places in Christchurch were turned down. Recently, she remembered that she often drove past FGS Christchurch. So she went on the Internet to make an appointment with the Temple and was delighted to receive a positive response. Lynne claimed that today's visit had filled the members with joy and was a very beneficial visit. The visitors were very grateful to the staff for their warm hospitality and they were full of praises for the delicious vegetarian food of the Water Drop Café. Every one of them promised to visit the Temple again in the future.
