Visit of Malaysian to FGS South Island
While touring New Zealand, Malaysian ‘Fo Guang Publication Sdn. Bhd.’ Executive Director Ms Tan and eight of her friends visited Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island on the 11th November 2018. Among the visitors were a few media people and an artist. They were welcomed by FGS South Island Minister-in-charge Venerable Jue Xi and Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island member Tracy Chen who guided them through a tour of the Temple building and ‘The Moment in Time’ Exhibition by Christchurch Artist Suzy Abbott and the Comics Exhibition by Artists Feng Zi Kai and Feng Yi Yin. Later, the visitors stopped by the Water Drop Café to have their meals. The visitors were full of praises for the innovative architecture of the Temple which symbolises modern form of Buddhism. Afterwards, Venerable Jue Xi briefed the visitors on the efforts put in and results achieved by FGS South Island in the propagation of Humanistic Buddhism in South Island and presented them with FGS NZ 2019 calendars as souvenirs.
The entourage told that they were deeply touched when they found the English version of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s book ‘366 Days with Wisdom’ in the motel they were staying. They could literally feel the determination and strength of members of BLIA New Zealand in distributing the book to 70% of the motels in New Zealand, enriching the travellers’ souls with Master Hsing Yun’s wisdom.
A member of the entourage, Koh Teng Huat, is a Palette knife painting artist. This was his first visit to FGS South Island and she expressed his great appreciation for the works on exhibition in Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Christchurch, and wished that, one day, his own works can similarly be exhibited here too. Finally, the entourage ended their Temple tour on a happy note.
