Visit of BLIA South Island Members to Te Komanawa Rowley School to Donate Hand Sanitizers and Introduce Activities Organised by FGS South Island
On 5th November 2020, Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island Director Kok-Wei Low and Young Adult Division (YAD) member Ni-Ling Chia visited Christchurch School Te Komanawa Rowley to donate hand sanitizers. They were welcomed by Headmaster Graeme Norman who thanked them for the donation.
Afterwards, Kok-Wei introduced to HM Graeme the various activities organised by Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Temple South Island, namely, the 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing, the FGS NZ Vegefest 2020, and the Laba Congee Sharing Activity. HM Graeme was particularly interested in the 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing activity which is another form of out-of-classroom education for the students, and he immediately registered the participation of 50 of his high school students in the event.
HM Graeme was similarly very supportive of the FGS NZ Vegefest 2020, and the Laba Congee Sharing Activity. He requested for 20 Vegefest entry tickets for his staff members, put up Vegefest poster on the school notice board, and promised to promote the event via the school’s Facebook. HM Graeme also booked in advance 135 bowls of Laba congee to serve as lunch meals for his students.
On learning that the BLIA visitors are from FGS Temple South Island, the staff at the school’s reception department remarked that her friend has strongly recommended to her the delicious vegetarian foods of the Water Drop Café in the Temple, and she has been longing to arrange for a meal there. This time around, her dream will come true when she visits the Temple for the FGS NZ Vegefest 2020!
