Visit of Artist Gail Batchelor to FGY Art Gallery Christchurch

01 / 05

New Zealand South Island Artist Gail Batchelor plans to hold an exhibition at Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Christchurch soon, and to ensure a well organised exhibition, Gail Batchelor personally made a visit to FGY Art Gallery Christchurch on 1st May 2019 to finalise the details. She was attended to by FGY Art Gallery Christchurch Liaison Officer Craig Dee.

Gail had previously participated in an exhibition in FGY Art Gallery Christchurch last year and had received high acclaim then. She is now planning for a second exhibition here in 2019, this time with a difference. Gail will hold the exhibition jointly with her son Ian Batchelor in which she will exhibit her abstract oil paintings while Ian will present his sculpture pieces. Gail has named this exhibition the ‘Joy and Fear’ Exhibition. The extreme emotions of fear and joy demanded by the paintings were indeed a huge emotional challenge to Gail. In addition, this time around, Gail shall present her paintings in colours as opposed to the black and white paintings she exhibited last year. The ‘Joy and Fear’ Exhibition shall be held from 24th June to 6th October 2019 with an opening ceremony on 29th June 2019.

Other than delving into technical details, Gail also accompanied Craig in a survey of the exhibition venue to decide on the arrangement of her 20-oil painting exhibits and Ian’s 15 sculptures. Gail was happy with the exhibit arrangement and hoped that the combination of her paintings with Ian’s sculptures will create a new artistic scene, and, with it, pleasant surprises to the art lovers!
