VEGRUN kick start in New Zealand Run to Promote A Sustainable Lifestyle and to Respect Life
To support the 2022 Global Veggie-Revival Community VEGRUN event, which initiated by the Buddha's Light International Association and the Pure Green Foundation, the BLIA North Island organized the VEGRUN on 3rd September at 7am, running alongside local Parkrun runners at Barry Curtis Park -which is located next to the Auckland Temple. Over 300 participants including Abbess Manshin, Venerables, BLIA members and the general public participated in the run to promote sustainable lifestyle and to raise awareness on the importance of respecting life and protecting our mother earth.
Abbess Manshin presented a speech to encourage the runners before the run, hoping that all the participants could run towards a prosperous country and society. Abbess also used her speech to commend society for continuing through challenging periods, such as when war and epidemics occur. She wished for everyone to run with enthusiasm, constructing a hopeful future together.
Ray and Maria, the person in charge of the Barry Curtis Parkrun, were pleased that VEGRUN members joined the morning run with a meaningful cause and used this action to contribute to the betterment of mother earth.
Larry Yang, the Deputy President of the BLIA North Island, shared that the public was full of enthusiasm and participated eagerly on a cold early morning. It was great for VEGRUN and Parkrun to work together for the health of the planet. This community run has brought people together, enhanced the interaction between people in the neighborhood and fostered a positive affinity.
The Oceania VEG RUN will last for an entire month, we welcome everyone to join us in taking action against climate change and promoting environmental protection awareness. Let’s make our contribution towards slowing down global warming and protecting the environment.
