01 / 12

On the 20th March 2021, Fo Guang Club has organised a Welcoming Party at FGS Auckland. There were 19 youths who participated in the event, their nationality includes Thailand, Malaysia, China and Taiwan.

Fo Guang Club President Edwin Teoh and the committee members prepared interesting activities for the members including ice-breaking games, Temple tour, striking the wishing bell and visiting the art galleries in Temple. Through the activities, new members gained an understanding about the Temple and Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s ideal of Three Acts of Goodness and Four Giving. In addition, they also learned that FGS NZ organised various educational, art and community events to serve the society. The new members shared that they felt calm and at peace as they were being surrounded by the soothing vibes in the Temple.

The BLIA North Island Senior Advisor Jennifer Liang and the Fo Guang Club committees also organised a Mindfulness Tea Meditation for the new members to experience enabling them to purify their body and mind. The president of BLIA Young Adult Division (YAD) New Zealand Thomas Lai expressed that tea making is a silent lesson that allows us to monitor every single detail and learn how to serve others. Edwin shared that the tea leaves are soaked in hot water to unfold their fragrance, just like the BLIA NZ youths who are constantly absorbing nutrients in the Temple and enhancing the strength of life.

In the sharing session, Abbess Manshin clarified that the cultivation is to build oneself with a positive attitude and a selfless mind, learn from the team and become a responsible decision maker. Abbess then further explained Venerable Master’s teaching on Learning to Endure Hardship to encourage young people to have self-mastery and develop own potential.

Regarding the subject of Life and Death, Abbess told the youth that life is precious and Venerable Master once said There is always hope in life. Everyone can achieve success in life by learning patiently, do good deeds and be kind. Abbess reminded everyone to be grateful for every affinity and keep on improving. The youths shared that they enjoyed the welcoming party a lot and were deeply inspired by Abbess’s teaching.
