Treasures of Nature Enlighten You Photography Exhibition Appreciate the Beauty of Mother Nature

On 1st August 2021, the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Auckland held the opening ceremony of the Treasure of Nature Enlighten You photography exhibition by Toney Su The ceremony was attended over 70 people including the Curator of Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery New Zealand, Abbess Manshin; President of BLIA North Island Chapter, Mr Lintao Yu; Councilor of Howick Wards, Mrs Sharon Stewart; Chairperson of Howick Local Board, Mrs Adele White; Dr Powhiri Rika-Heke; Senior Sergeant Anson Lin from Ormiston Police Station, art lovers and friends of art gallery. The ribbon cutting ceremony was began by the Maori blessing by Dr Powhiri.

Toney Su is a young Taiwanese photographer who has been working in the photography field for nearly 10 years. In 2019, Abbess Manshin welcomed Toney to in New Zealand, which provided him opportunities to capture the natural beauty of New Zealand as well as the beautiful architecture and garden in both Auckland and Christchurch Temple. Toney had his first solo exhibition in Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch in 2020 January, which was admired by the visitors. He recently won in the Canon New Zealand Super Blood Moon Photo Print Competition.

The Curator Abbess Manshin appreciated Venerable Master Hsing Yun for bringing the wisdom, energy and spirit of kindness to New Zealand, and for bringing aesthetics to human life. The Temple is a place for mind purification and exert potential. By practicing the spirit of Three Acts of Goodness and Four Givings, serving the community and construct a harmonious society with goodness and beauty is also a form of art.

Toney expressed his gratitude to Abbess Manshin for giving him so many opportunities to learn and grow, and also encouraged him to host the photography exhibition. Toney also thanks the team in Temple to support him and make the exhibition possible. Through Toney's lenses, it is hoped that the audiences can understand the relationship between nature and us to achieve spiritual and environmental preservation.

The Chairperson of Howick Local Board, Ms Adele White was impressed by the photos of Toney. She shared that it was great to see the Temple support talented youth unconditionally and sharing the beauty to the community.

Senior Sergeant Anson shared that looking at Toney’s artworks bring him calm and moment to reflect on self from the busy life. Under the guidance of Abbess Manshin, everyone has the opportunity to improve and play one potential into full.

The exhibition will be showing from 1st Aug to 26th September. Welcome everyone to enjoy the exhibition and discover the treasure of mother nature.
