The Horizons Exhibition Preparation

Local artist Dean Buchanan will hold his oil painting exhibition, “Horizons”, at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch on 1st May 2018. For the preparation, Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island Young Adults Division (YAD) volunteers, led by FGY Art Gallery NZ Curator Venerable Abbess Manshin, carried out the arrangement of the exhibits from 26 to 30 April. 19 pieces of oil paintings were displayed in the Ground Floor of the art gallery.

For the past 40 years, artist Dean Buchanan has been earnestly pursuing landscape painting. After years of painting, Dean realizes that there is always something beyond the horizon, another landscape, another sunrise or another sunset; it is a never ending quest. Through his exploration of the horizon and beyond, Dean is able to present New Zealand’s scenery to the public that possesses a unique, vivid, and strikingly energetic primitive images.

Dean Buchanan’s “Horizons” oil painting exhibition will be held at FGY Art Gallery Christchurch from 1st May to 15th July 2018. Dean expresses this love of landscapes in his large oil paintings of mountains, bushes, coasts and many more, are rendered into semi-abstract forms outlined in thick strokes of colour. They are colourful, dramatic and complex depictions of particular places. Our eyes truly deserves all these.
