The 8th 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing_Session 14 Positive Feedback from Parents
On the 17th May 2022, the 8th 3G4G Cultural Sharing Festival came to the 14th sessions which participated by 75 students from Sunnyhills School in Year 6. With a total of 15 parent-helpers and teachers, the students visited the Temple excitingly.
In every session, the students actively participated and exposed in a multicultural learning experience. Activities include visit the Pagoda, strike the Peace Gong, experience the Chinese calligraphy, mindfulness meditation and interact with the NZ Police. One of the parent helper shared she has followed her child to the Temple last week with Farm Cove Intermediate and the Tai Chi session conducted under the sun made her weekend filled with mindfulness. Therefore, she had been eager to return to the Temple with another child and looking forward to experience the activities again.
Besides that, a parent who was first time visited the Temple praised that the arrangement of various activities was well integrated with the concept of 3 Act of Goodness and 4 Givings. Every session bought a special experience to the students and the values of 3G4G are significant and vital in life. Thus, he was intended to suggest another school where his daughter studies to take part in this meaningful program as well. Moreover, he is looking forward to bringing his friends and family to the Temple after learning that it opens to public from Tuesday to Sunday.
Last but not least, there were student who ate eight bowls of Laba Rice and curious to know about how to make such delicious rice, and the meaning of Laba. Venerable Nengchien shared with them a story about how the Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, after receiving an offering from a shepherdess. Therefore, the Laba Rice symbolizes and encourages greater strength and power for us to practice 3G4G in our everyday lives.
