Spreading Love by Gifting Hand Sanitiser to Hornby High School

Although Covid-19 outbreak is well-controlled in New Zealand, every single person still needs to be strictly adhered to the safety and pandemic prevention guidelines. For every school to have enough cleaning products, Buddha Light International Association (BLIA) South Island Director Kok Wei Low and BLIA Young Adult Division Ni-Ling Chia represented the association to donate hand sanitiser to Hornby High School in Christchurch on 3 November. The donation received by the school Vice-Principal Karen Wheeler. Karen thanked BLIA South Island for their kindness and instilling a warm feeling to the community. The school can take up this opportunity to remind the students to wash hands regularly to strengthen the pandemic prevention and cherish this care from society.

Vice-Principal Karen welcome Kok Wei and Ni-Ling Chia and took them on tour to the school’s new building. Kok Wei represented association to present 2021 New Zealand Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Calendar and 2020 BLIA New Zealand Activities Report. At the same time, he promoted upcoming events which include 2020 Vege Fest, Laba Congee Festival, 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing and so on. Karen expressed she would arrange senior students to participate in 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing. To express her support for the event, Karen requested 30 admission tickets of 2020 Vege Fest and at the same time publicised Vege Fest and Laba Congee Festival on the school bulletin board and their Facebook to assist the promotion.

While browsing through 2020 BLIA New Zealand Activities Report, Karen praised FGS for organising many activities that benefit the community. When she read and saw the photos of the schools that participated in 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing on last year, she felt proud and moved. Karen looking forward to BLIA South Island continues to organise more events and would try her best to cooperate in assisting the promotion.
