South Island Promoting Vegetarianism and Healthy Living with Live Story Characters Attending

In order to support Veggie Plan A which was promoted by the World Headquarters of Buddha’s Light International Association, the South Island New Zealand branch, held the second FGS NZ Vegefest on 24 November attracting about 500 people from Christchurch and around 50 volunteers participated. The public took part in the event with joy and happiness.

The event was packed with programs, activities and food stalls that serves hot food, desserts, bread, organic food, drinks, fresh fruits and vegetables. There are also free Chinese traditional health check and dietary sharing for those who comes. Tai Chi performances, cooking demo, eastern and western musical performances and choirs are there to keep everyone entertained.

Special characters such as Snow White, and those from Alice in Wonderland with Alice, the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts, Princess of Hearts, Card Soldiers, Mad Hatter and even the Chinese God of Prosperity joined in for everyone to take photographs with.

The sun shined on the day, reflecting the cheerfulness of the participants. Everyone at the event smiled and had fun having memories at Fo Guang Shan South Island. This event promoted the creativity of vegetarian activities with fairy tale characters and once again making a new attempt to promote Humanistic Buddhism!
