Professor Kuo’s Chinese Paintings Exhibition with surprise invitation to Timaru’s Aigantighe Art gallery

The Professor Kuo Yen Chiao’s Traditional Chinese Paintings displayed in Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Christchurch has been attracted many visitors and always positive favour by the public’s review. On 12 November, Rosemary Carter an art lover from Timaru which accompany her husband to Christchurch Hospital for Cancer treatment. While visit Christchurch, they both visit FGY Art Gallery Christchurch. They are welcomed by Louisa Kuo, FGY liaise officer Ryan Wang and Staff Juin Mei.

While visit the gallery, Rosemary and husband admired Professor kuo's Artworks and felt that Professor have such a high Ink painting skill. Rosemary hopes to introduce Professor Kuo’s artworks to wider New Zealand community. She suggested Professor’s Artworks should be exhibited at Timaru’s Aigantighe Art gallery and introduce the artistic artwork to Timaru’s residents.

Rosemary was a director of the Aigantighe Art gallery. She said that the current curator Hamish lived in China before and had contact with many Chinese artists. Hamish also research on Chinese artworks especially on calligraphy. Rosemary stated she will report this exhibition to Hamish, hoping this act will promote the exchange of Chinese and Western art culture and benefit both the art galleries.

The Aigantighe Art Gallery built in 1908, located in the centre of Timaru. It is a typical Scottish old building. The exterior design, interior decoration and courtyard are full of artistic aesthetics. It can be claimed as the significant art home for South Canterbury. It is also serve as platform for local and international artists. The gallery often holds various art exhibitions with a wide range of artworks, including paintings, ceramics, sculptures, etc. Rosemary believes that Professor Kuo Yen Chiao’s Traditional Chinese Paintings will become a great surprises to Timaru’s art lovers!
