Preparing for the ‘Reflections’ Exhibition
The Wire Art Exhibition “Reflections”, is scheduled to be held at Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Christchurch soon. On 21st July 2019, Christchurch amateur wire-craft artist Leonore Ashby came over to the Gallery to make arrangement for the exhibition. She was assisted by gallery staff Juin Mei Chang, Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island Vice President Lih-Son Ding and trainee students Hanna and Savannah from Fu Ren University Taiwan, Hannah and Savannah.
Leonore’s art pieces are fine miniature wire-craft pieces intricately produced by her with her two hands using fine wires woven into miniature objects such as leaves, trees, insects, clothing, purse, gloves, shoes, her self-portrait, and various sets of miniature objects, with each set depiciting a certain theme story.
During her visit to FGY Art Gallery Christchurch some time ago, Leonore accidentally saw a strand of copper wire which aroused her inspiration to create wire-crafts. Being a Nature-lover, Leonore naturally opted to initially use leaf, tree, and insect as her main objects of creation. She only later extended her interest to create objects based on themes from ‘Real Life’. The Exhibition will be from 23rd July to 28th September 2019 and an onsite live demonstration will be conducted on 11th November 2019.
