Preparation For Infatuation Exhibition At FGY Art Gallery Christchurch
Beijing-based oil painting artist Zhang Hai Hua came to the Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Christchurch on 2nd May with her family to set up the Infatuation exhibition with the help of Public Relations Manager Ryan Wang. The Infatuation exhibition features 23 oil paintings and 20 watercolor paintings, centered around a theme which covers flowers, wind, waves and sunlight, reflecting the metaphor of ocean and flowers in her Chinese name.
Artist Zhang has a deep affinities with Christchurch: "When I moved from Beijing to Christchurch in 2017, I was fascinated by it and inspired by the amazing people of the city into making creative works. Christchurch has experienced a lot of turmoil in recent years and in the midst of much hardship and suffering, the people have shown themselves to be heroic, honest and friendly. They are hospitable, generous, and show deep concern and respect for one another. The city is bright and colorful everywhere, with gardens of beautiful flowers and parks full of trees basking under the sun and next to waves. One can feel the genuine warmth of its citizens here, and for the past four years, the ubiquitous spirit of Christchurch has inspired and motivated the artwork I created for this exhibition. Painting is my passion and to me, painting is like an adventure that frees my spirit and allows me to realize my dreams. My goal is to capture the beautiful moments I experience here, from the classic masterpieces I see in the galleries, to the urban graffiti I glimpse on the street. Whether it is just a smile, a glance or a gesture, none of these will escape my brushstroke.
Zhang's exhibition will be on display from 8th May to the 30th June at FGY Art Gallery Christchurch and she treats this as a celebration for her birthday which happens to be in June. For Ms. Zhang, this art exhibition is a dream come true and represents a great milestone in her life, giving her more hope and higher goals for the future.
