Prelude to the Treasure of Nature Enlighten You Photography Exhibition at FGY Art Gallery CHCH
As a prelude to the Treasure of Nature Enlighten You Photography Exhibition held at Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Christchurch, on 18th January 2020, a guided tour cum briefing session was conducted by the photographer Toney Su for 15 people, consisting of volunteer guides and members of Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island.
In this Photography Exhibition, 30 pieces of photographs, a commemorative book, and postcard are presented. The photography works manage to capture the beautiful sceneries of New Zealand’s North and South Islands, and the solemnity of Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Temple Buildings in North and South Islands. Toney spoke of the experience he encountered in the past one year working hard to capture each scene, such as, climbing dangerous terrain to gain good view of snow-capped mountains, withstanding very cold nights to capture the star-filled skies, and putting up with very strong winds to take snap shots of rough seas. Toney also shared how he made use of his knowledge in photography to take the photos, like, making use of the effect of light and shadow, adopting the correct shatter speed and choosing the proper angle of shooting.
The understudy group was full of praises for Toney’s exhibited works and enthusiastically raised many questions. To each question, Toney patiently offered an answer. On top of that, Toney introduced to the group the Star Tracking App in the mobile phone. The group was so happy and satisfied with Toney’ briefings and explanations that they claimed that they had undergone a short course in photography and astronomy, allowing them to gain new knowledge and to have inner peace gazing at the beautiful sceneries captured in the photographs. The Photography Exhibition will be from 18th January to 30th April 2020.
