Pianist Composer Dedicate Services After Being Touched by Buddhist Propagation

On 22nd August, Jamie McDermott and his wife whom resides in Christchurch had visited Water Drop Café in Fo Guang Shan, Christchurch. They loved the vegetarian food in the café and had frequently came to Water Drop Cafe along his grandson. Besides appreciates the delicious vegetarian food in the café, Jamie also adores the construction of the temple. He praises the building architecture were simple yet elegant, especially the tranquility atmosphere of the Art Gallery and Main Shrine. Jamie mentioned that the temple is a sacred place in his heart.

Jamie deeply admires temple dedication to unconditionally serves Christchurch resident and he hopes to contribute in return. Jamie, a Pianist Composer by occupation, had discussed with Abbess Manshin earlier and were invited to compose a song for Fo Guang Shan. He felt happy and honoured to compose. Jamie mentioned that few nights ago, he had a sudden inspiration and immediately drafted the song which he believed it would be completed soon.

Jamie were raised in a Beekeeping family, started engaging with beekeeping since his Grandfather generation to his father and himself. Beekeeping to Jamie is not only a career, but also a representation of New Zealand culture. He had invited Venerables and BLIA members to pay a visit to his Bee farm to shares his beekeeping experience as well as honey tasting. Jamie hopes to contribute through his professional knowledge to the residents of Christchurch with an alternative way to achieve a cross-cultural exchange.
